More than just an AGM!

AGM

Residents came from all corners of Love's Farm to hear what the Community Association has been up to over the past year, and to hear something of the vision for the year ahead. For the first time, some worthy residents were the deserved recipients of Love's Farm Community Champion Awards. We were also joined by the Mayor of St Neots and representatives of our Town, District and County Councils and members of our local Police force.

The scene was set with displays about the Community Centre, our Street Reps initiative, SMART tidy-up days and other ways to get involved, and residents greeted with wine and refreshments.

AGM Keela

We introduced Helene Tame, our Community Chaplain, who is already making a great impact on our work and who we will hear a great deal more from in the coming months and years!

Our first Community Champion Awards brought smiles to the faces of 5 residents. Do start thinking about who you would like to nominate for next year's awards!

AGM MarcusA successful year

As the meeting got underway, members of the committee outline outlined the progress of the Association over the past year, accompanied by a multimedia presentation. Following the last AGM, the committee set a number of goals covering all areas of our work - these were outlined and we reported on how we measured up to them. We talked about our SMART initiative, how we are tackling the nuisances of dogs and irresponsible parking, the funding we secured to continue the youth work on Love's Farm, the events we have held, the website, newsletter and Love's Farm House (our soon-to-be-built community centre). For more details you can see the presentation slides and the minutes of the meeting.

The officers of the committee (chair, vice-chair, secretary and treasurer) were re-elected for a further year.

Street Reps are GO!

Our Street Reps initiative, giving every street a voice, and for which we have been recruiting volunteers for several months, was launched. We are still looking for volunteers for some streets!

Time to talk

As the formal part of the meeting closed, residents were invited to form smaller groups to discuss some of the hot topics, and to put their questions to our local representatives and PCSOs.

And much more to come!

Although we have achieved a great deal this year, we are the first to recognise that we have fallen short in a number of areas - but we can only do better with your help! If you'd like to get involved, we'd love to hear from you, so please get in touch!

Our next committee meeting is on Wednesday 12th November 2014 at 7.15pm. For the first time, this will be at the new Community Room at Tesco St Neots Extra - this is the big Tesco Superstore on Barford Road. All residents are welcome to this meeting.
