Cambridge Road traffic lights

Road works required for next stage of utility protection and provision for St Neots East 

Work is progressing well with diverting and protecting the existing services and infrastructure which run down Cambridge Road, and starting to put in place the future infrastructure needed for Wintringham. The civil engineering team of Breheny are now due to start more complicated works around the Gas supplies. Unfortunately this will require a period of additional traffic management, due to the nature of the work.
 
The work will entail: 

• A 3-way Traffic control from Monday 11th to Friday 22nd March on the Stone Hill roundabout
• A 3-way Traffic control system from Monday 25th March to Friday 5th April (On the Dramsell Rise roundabout)
• Lights will need to be in place 24 hours a day due to the nature of the works, but will be manned during peak periods to enable response to traffic flow. 

The Breheny and Urban&Civic team have been working through the plans, to do as much work as possible without needing lights on Cambridge Road, but because of the depth of the work, and the nature of the concrete protections being put in place, there is no way round putting the traffic management in place for these time periods.
 
Breheny Civil Engineering Spokesman advises:
 
“As part of the Wintringham works we are required to protect the high pressure gas main, to do this we are laying a concrete protection slab over the main and as we are dealing with the installation of concrete, there may be periods when the teams are not seen to be working whilst the concrete cures, but I would like to assure residents that the traffic management does need to be in place throughout this time to protect the gas main and workforce. We do apologise for the inconvenience this work will cause, and our teams will ensure they respond as much as possible to the traffic flows on the road. We continue to work with Urban&Civic to minimise the impacts on local residents and those using Cambridge Road.“

“We know that the traffic management will cause disruptions, and we do want to apologise for the delays caused. Clearly it is vitally important that we protect the existing utilities and services which St Neots needs, and put in place as much of the new infrastructure to support Wintringham up front, and that this is done in a safe and robust way. We do appreciate people’s patience while this work is underway and will continue to minimise the disruption as much as possible.”
