After having to cancel The Big Lunch in June to wet and windy weather, the sun shone on Love's Farm this Sunday! Residents gathered for a big picnic to celebrate all things British, with fun, games and music.

Organised by Love's Farm Community Association, The Big Lunch this year had a party atmosphere to celebrate the fantastic summer events in Britain this year, Union Jack bunting was hung from the trees with balloons and party blowers the scene was set.

Children (and adults) took part in races and in Olympic style the winners were presented with medals, followed by dancing, food and there was also more party games from pass the parcel to musical statues. The Children also made a great piece or art with drawings on paper plates with a British theme.

Emma Lovelock, events co-ordinator for LFCA, said 'With the Jubilee events and the fantastic Olympics and Paralympics, we were in the party mood. Britain has a lot to celebrate and we did this Love's Farm style, in unusual British weather. The sun shone and this added to the fun of the day.'

Barry Chapman, Mayor of St Neots, visited and chatted to residents soaking up the sun and atmosphere.

After many games, party dances and prizes won, the festivities with many proudly wearing medals, remembering a lovely afternoon.

Thank you to all who attended and joined in, it was a lovely afternoon, for many who are new to the estate this was the first event of many that we hold here at Love's Farm and I hope people have made new friends and feel part of this growing community. Also thank you to St Neots town council for the kind donation of the medals that I know many of the children have refused to take off yet! Im look forward to organising an even bigger and better 'Big Lunch 2013'.
